COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course aims to provide an understanding of the theory and practice of curating. Through close readings of texts, exhibition visits and introduction to various modes of exhibition-making, the course will examine the complex relationship between exhibitions and the artworks it presents, the institution within which they are located and their multiple and diverse publics. The course will also explore the exhibition as a critical form that responds to social, political and economic exigencies in an increasingly globalised world.
