Professor Huang Hai-Ming, former director of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, was specially invited to deliver a lecture on his thirteen years of experience operating Nanhai Gallery. Beginning with the gallery’s founding background, Professor Huang provided an in-depth introduction to how Nanhai Gallery gradually established its position within the contemporary art landscape. He also shared the challenges and transformations encountered throughout its development, including collaborations with artists, exhibition curation, space management, and audience engagement.

Through this lecture, students gained a deeper understanding of the role galleries play within the art ecosystem, as well as a more comprehensive perspective on the operation of independent art spaces in Taiwan. Professor Huang’s thoughtful and insightful presentation offered valuable inspiration and fostered a deeper appreciation for the practices of arts administration and gallery management.
