Trần Minh Đức
Trần Minh Đức

Trần Minh Đức (aka Duc flyingbay) joined CCSCA with his background as a visual artist. Born in Sai Gon – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, trained as a painter in the College of Culture and Arts of HCMC—Đức's art explores Vietnamese memories and history, influenced by Southeast Asian culture, history, and socio-political dynamics. He often uses found and ready-made objects to create replicas of printed documents, political symbols, and cultural figures. His work draws from personal and family stories, word-of-mouth narratives, and side histories that expand into shared national and regional memories. Đức’s projects reflect his experience as a Vietnamese individual born after the war, growing up in a country shaped by its relationships with Southeast/ East Asian nations and colonial powers.
Duc flyingbay was central to the development and management of "San Art Laboratory" (2012–2015), Vietnam’s pioneering independent artist residency program, which provided vital support for young emerging artists in Ho Chi Minh City. He also served as international liaison for the "Conscious Realities" series (2013–2016), which fostered transnational dialogue and research exchanges between artists and thinkers from across the Global South.
