Keynote Lecture for the 2026 CCSCA Research Forum: A Meditation on the Oblique
Keynote Lecture for the 2026 CCSCA Research Forum
Title: A Meditation on the Oblique
Keynote Speaker: Susie Lingham (Interdisciplinary Artist and Curator, Visiting Professor at National Taiwan University of Arts)
May 29 (Friday) 10:00-11:00
Resources Promotion Room, NTUE Library, 4th Floor
Art interrogates the world as perceived, experienced, presented, and represented, as well as relentlessly questions its own means of perceiving, representing and presenting the world as experience. Constantly shapeshifting, change in contemporary art is accelerated, doubted, or re-routed by its own catalytic forces, heuristic and haptic processes, and tacit knowledge. And even as it subverts and coalesces, redistributes, shapes and skews perspectives, art intends attention. The intent shepherds attention, and amplifies and magnifies what might otherwise be overlooked, unobserved, imperceptible, unimagined.
Something astir in the zeitgeist: the art object is replaced with art objectives. Intangibles take form in time and process as experience. What forms do these possible experiences take? Who, or what, takes us by the hand, prompts us to feel round the back of the mere object, behind appearances, to sense peripheries, and intuit what might be the whole as it unfolds implicitly?
