COURSE DESCRIPTION
Patricia HUANG
Focusing on how art flows in the commercial market. The course provides a broad introduction to the demand and supply of the artworks, and the wider economic and artistic landscape that the art market is situated within. Students are expected to gain a professional understanding of how art is sold and bought through galleries and auction houses, and the intricate relationship between collectors, museums, galleries and auction houses. ‧ We will also examine the ideas of ‘cultural capital’ and the social importance of arts for a more holistic view of how ‘values’are constructed in arts sector.
